🪙 What’s new in v0.2.0 — please test this weekend

Released Fri 24 Jul 2026 · test by Sun 26 Jul

The Pochi release. Before you start, check the app shows v0.2.0 — new builds arrive through your App Distribution invite; on the web, refresh until the version reads v0.2.0. Then run the weekend checklist below, mark your results in the main checklist further down, and hit Submit my report as usual.

🪙 Pochi — money with your SACCOEvery member now has a Pochi: money held safely with their SACCO — never with Kinga. Extra money from payments lands there automatically, and you can top it up from M-Pesa in two taps. Top-ups are free — no fee, the full amount lands. Tap the gold Pochi card for the full movement history.
💳 Pay your wayPay for any service from Pochi, from M-Pesa, or both together — the split is itemised on the fee sheet before you confirm. Pochi-only payments confirm instantly, with no M-Pesa prompt.
🔁 AutopaySet automatic payments (daily, weekly or monthly) for the services you choose, funded from Pochi. It catches up safely when you’ve been away, never double-charges, tells you when it skips, and stops itself when a premium is fully paid.
🛡️ Insurance, clearer and fairerCover instalments are itemised per cover on every payment. If you overpay a premium, the extra is protected and credited back to your Pochi. Paying the full premium activates cover instantly — with a notification.
🧾 Trust, built inEvery payment gets a KNG receipt within 2 seconds — and on live rails the real M-Pesa code stays on the receipt as proof. English and Kiswahili everywhere, light and dark themes, and 145 automated tests including adversarial money-law checks.
Weekend checklist — six things to try
  1. Top up your Pochi from M-Pesa and check the full amount lands — no fee.
  2. Pay savings three ways — Pochi only, M-Pesa only, and both — and check the fee sheet shows the split before you confirm.
  3. Set a daily autopay for savings, tap “Run due payments now”, and check the notification and the receipt.
  4. Try to overpay an insurance top-up and check the extra lands in your Pochi.
  5. Switch to Kiswahili and dark mode, then repeat one payment.
  6. Anything confusing? Write it in the notes of the nearest checklist item below — then submit.

Your marks and notes go through the same “Submit my report” button at the top — you can update and resubmit any time over the weekend.

Status of each feature: Ready built & ready to test Sandbox works, but simulated (no real money/data yet) Partly built some of it done In development not ready yet ·  Platforms: 📱 App 🌐 Web
Sandbox reminder: no real money moves. Payments show a 2-second simulated M-Pesa prompt and always “succeed”. There’s a Reset demo data option at the bottom of the role drawer to start any test over. The Android tester build may warn “app isn’t verified” / ask to “install from unknown apps” — that’s normal for a beta install, tap through it.

Where to test — tap to open in a new tab

Inside the app, tap the role switcher (top-right drawer) to test every side: Member · Chairman · Treasurer · Kinga console (settlement) · Birdview portal (partner). No sign-in needed — it opens as Brian Omondi.

What’s real vs. still connecting

The screens and logic are built behind clean interfaces, so the real integrations swap in without redesigning anything. Here’s exactly where each one stands.
